 What can happen with change
« Thread Started on Dec 6, 2012, 8:54am »

obviously there is risk involved with any change BUT

here is what happened to these players when Lanier was replaced and the players either played for McCaffery or went elsewhere. The numbers are eye-popping and really show how important the system is

McClinton -
Lanier .423 fg% .357 3pt% .815 ft%
Miami .449 fg% .453 3pt% .885 ft%

Al Fisher -
Lanier .336 fg% .262 3pt% .649 ft%
Kent St.406 fg% .324 3pt% .846 ft%

Jordan -
Lanier .330 fg% .224 3pt% .772 ft%
Fran M .469 fg% .453 3pt% .818 ft%

Ryan -
Lanier .339 fg% .288 3pt% .750 ft%
Fran M .474 fg% .394 3pt% .843 ft%

Tay Fisher -
Lanier .307 fg% .295 3pt% .818 ft%
Fran M .443 fg% .444 3pt% .844 ft%

Haddix -
Lanier .441 fg% .592 ft%
Fran M .562 fg% .673 ft%

This is why I keep getting frustrated when people say the talent isn't there. We don't know if the talent is there cause of how badly Mitch's offense is crippling them.

I believe the talent is there. Except for maybe Hopper, who couldn't crack the lineup with last year's situation, and I'm not quite sure about Gomis, all of our scholarship players are at worst a rotation player. I can't think of too many years where you have that many numbers. I think we have a lot of "pieces" that could fill a really good team.

i think anyone would be mistaken to attempt to judge the current players by the way in which they are performing with the current system.

I agree with everyone in this thread, and I'd like Mitch gone. But while the talent is arguably there now, if Mitch goes, I would expect a handful of players to go too.

Don't know about that. Who knows what loyalty they have towards him or don't have. I don't think anyone of us knows that. Chances are someone will go anyway. Beard left last season.

Like I said before.. Siena needs to come out and make a statement on Monday that Mitch is out or he will be the coach for the rest of the season.

If they don't the speculation continues... like after the LaSalle game on 12/29 and before the Iona game on 1/4 there's a six day break.

Tell you one thing...in every one of those videos I posted about Wojciechowski/Coach K ...you see they stress the little things at Duke and do everyday drills- I would bet money that Fran was like that too !! And if the players/recruits dont like doing it. ...then go find another school !! Thats how you WIN !!!! Thats how you get better !!! You teach...and enforce discipline !!!

best option

12/9 Mitch steps down
12/10 Carter or Anderson are Interim
***two weeks to insert new system
12/23 road game that is essentially a scrimmage against a poor Fordham team. Nice first test of new system
***Six day break to implement any tweaks etc of the new system
12/29 home scrimmage, if you will, against a tougher Lasalle team
***five days to implement further tweaks
1/4 begins full blown MAAC play and essentially a truly new season, against Iona

in my opinion the calendar and schedule are affording Siena a chance to turn THIS season around

Guess what... your never going to see a change happen mid-season !! Unless the boosters are calling for it !!! Siena is not the type of school that would do that !!!! End of story !!!

There is not enough sand in Loudonville for the powers that be to keep there heads buried in to overlook the state of this program. I'm sure there are discussions daily as to what the next move is. There has to be a line drawn somewhere and I mean before 3/2013. My guess is it would be Monday the 10th.

2-9 doesn't sit well.

I totally agree with you. Let's see if someone else can use our talent properly.
